missfire

hi all i have recently done an head gasket on a 300tdi all is well set the tappets to 0.20mm job done. i come to start it and it kicks out a bit of black smoke witch is epected. but on revs it as a missfire and kicks out unburnt fuel any ideas ? cheers dave

Sounds like the pump timing.

Are you getting any ticks or little knocks. Mine had a miss fire after head gasket change, reset the tappets back to factory spec, turned out number valve was hitting number 2 piston. my head had been skimmed alot, and rather than altering the height of the valve seats, they made the tappet clearance larger. Recheck your tappets first thou
