Hi People

I have a LandRover Discovery 2.5 TDI With over 199599 miles on the clock do they really go for ever it's done over 600 miles from 199599 that was on the MOT sheet , i have had this less then a week first 4x4 in my life , lol

Also when i put the heating on all i get is cold air what could be the problem with it and the 4x4 mode i think is mad , Because i change it and it don't move much and stops it driving as it is a auto box ,

Look forward to your help , thanks

you can expect at least 250k out of a 200 Tdi as long as it's looked after

no heating is probably just a blocked or shot matrix

wat d'ya rekon a well looked after, serviced (very little offroad action), 300tdi should serve ya sean? about the same as a 200, 250k?

yep, if you treat it nicely

i know a few 200 and 300s that have the best part of 500k on them and have had no major engine works done yet

as with all LR engines don't push em till they are toasty and don't expect sports car performance

Can you be a bit clearer on this, as your disco has permanent four wheel drive. Do u mean you are putting Hi-Lo lever into neutral.

Hi so does it have 4 Wheel drive permanent ? When i move the small Hi & Lo lever it's very hard to move and today i moved it and it did not move forward just high REVS i moved it back and now it drives it is a auto Box .

This is my first 4x4 i got it because my clio 1.5 dci gearbox gave up :(
i paid £350 for the 4x4 on a L plate with 200137 miles on the clock from a guy who goes to a club and i want to get in to it too seems fun but i just want to get this 4x4 running sound ,

Please bear with me people i am here to learn , thanks

take all the gubbins off the lever inside and blat it with some penetrating fluid - WD40 or similar should do

Are they worth putting money in too  as i would like to use it for off road fun with this club but the miles are high and i have not seen under it hope it's not full of rust . Where would be the best place to get the Hi -Lo Box looked at 7 WHY is it not likely to be faulty .

The more i ask will mean the more i learn !!

i'd say if your looking to do off roading then the mileage wont matter so long as it works and is road legal, have you tried facing uphill when putting into lowbox as the manual says you can get 'windup' and rolling backwards can relieve it,

I have a newer Disco series 2 TD5, it has clocked 136,600 miles in just 50 months from new, but I hardly exceed 60-65 mph, it hardly ever does less than 40 miles as a single journey, and I rarely exceed 3000 rpm . . . and I service the engine myself every 10-12k inc both filters - well on it's way to 200k and more
But it regulary gets off roaded (see my pic) so I'm not an old man driver (except old man emu)
