Hi all, newbie here, but can I say what a fantastic resource this forum is. Huge thanks to "thebiglad" for his post of 24th July re what replacement/maintenance to do when first getting a Disco.
I wonder if someone can assist with this?
My 2001 TD5 disco (just bought) is lhd, been abroad most of its life in Egypt and later UAE, (has Egyptian service history by Jaguar?? dealers to confirm) and was obviously so reliable (famous last words!) the owner from new decided to bring it back to the UK. the speedo is in mph with the usual kph green inside readout. The service history is reported both in miles and in other entries in kms.
My question. Is it possible to change the digital display re distance travelled from miles to kph, maybe with the diagnostic or other device, otherwise I cannot understand how it has been reported in both at different times of its life? If it's easy I would like to change it back to kms, as I shall be removing the car to Greece to live its life there, hopefully, with infrequent trips back to UK.
Hopefully somebody knows the answer.
Thanks for a great source of advice, I hope I can contribute my bit when possible.
Regards

Have just read an old post that suggests that the digital conversion is probably possible, but suggests that it may cause more problems. If this is the case, I can live with miles, but surely it shouldn't cause problems unless one changes components?
Thanks

Hello mate, to change the odometer from miles to kms and back is VERY VERY easy !!!!!

Turn the ignition onto pos II, press and hold the 'zero trip' button and the readout will change between miles and kms - easy as that !!!!!

Dave

what Dave says it's correct(as always;)) ... BUT there is a small inconvenience which might occur(i quote from RAVE, see the underlined part):
A push button located next to the LCD is utilised to reset the trip meter to zero and to change the units from miles to kilometres. Pressing the button for less than 2 seconds allows the display to reset to zero. Pressing the button for more than 2 seconds changes the units from miles to kilometres and vice versa. The units will only change for UK, NAS and Canadian market vehicles.

give it a try anyway, maybe u are lucky

Guys, very many thanks, hadn't checked RAVE (only downloaded it earlier today!). I will try and let you know, but I believe that although lhd, it was supplied here in the UK.
Thanks

i was out and checked mine(LHD, european export) ...it doesnt work for me.... it's understandable cos if i would have thought to sell it i could have reset the odometer in miles and get a better price for the low Km's;). Instead of 201.000 on board it would have been 124.896 ... the unit descriptor in the bottom is small and not too many people around here would notice it:cool: ... not that i could be such an a-hole:D
