EGR is very common fault, first step is to remove EGR valves (there are 2) and either clean or replace with blanking kit.

Reset ECU dtc memory and see what happens.

Or at least that's what I would do...

b4 you do above blancing check new mot rules re emmisions etc . it might have to be there for test:(
