Hi all,
new to the forum and keen toget the old girl (1996 Tdi ES auto) in good shape.Apart from no tacho, I have no:

Heated rear screen
Interior lights
Rear fogs
Headlamp washers
Rear wash wipe
Lights on 'buzzer'

Previous posts suggest MFU (although I do have headlights and front wipers).

I've found and will try the diagnostic test but my question is: can I muck up what is working by trying this? I'm terrified I'll do it wrong and end up with no lights/wipers!

I could do with a good MFU to try, anyone near Ulverston in Cumbria who's an hour to spare to swap one in?

Thanks
Ez

Hi the Ez, the 'no tacho' question is normally a matter of a loose or broken connection of the thin wire that goes to the alternator. Check at the alternator end.

The diagnostic test will only tell you what you have already found out, and the answer to the question is No.
I bet your wipers dont have the variable delay as that is also taken care of by the MFU, and lights have no connection with the unit
I had to replace my MFU back in Jan 2011.
