Does anyone have any experience of the conversion kit available a few years ago which allowed the fitting of the Mecedes (OM617) 5 Cyl. 3.0 Diesel engine into Range Rovers??
Was the Mercedes engine in the Range Rover any good??
The reason I ask is that I have, under the bench in my garage a completely rebuilt 4 Cyl. 2.4 diesel engine, one of the above adaptor plates, and a petrol guzzling '59 SWB Truck Cab.
The question is....do I assemble the above three??
Much as I would love to combine my love of old Land Rovers and old "Diesel" mercedes, in creating a "Benz-Rover", what I dont want, is to spend a lot of time on this, only to be left in the dust of my Father-in-Laws 2.2 BMC powered (sorry that should be "Underpowered") '59 Station Wagen??
