Hi Guys.

Could anyone provide any waypoint/tracklogs etc for any good lanes in yorkshire. I have memory map.

Both me and my 2 yr old lad would be truly greatfull. All he's seen in dads landy is a bit of flash flooding.

Thanks in advance.

Nuf said mate, I appreciate the point your making.

I wanted to come out with you guys the other friday but work didn't permit.

Can i tag on next time with you?

How do i join GLASS? i need a number but not part of any clubs. Whats the best to join round our way.

Cheers Paul.

No worries, you can tag along any time. Whereabouts are you? I was supposed to be going to Newark but can't, and can't get out this morning, but might do a few lanes out Maltby way later this aft.

I joined Glass through the internet No group for South Yorkshire yet ... but I'm thinking about it!! ;)

would be great, im in mexborough. If your off out drop us a text and we'll meet up.

Cheers.

Sent you a text ... forgot to put my name in it ... ;)

I can only Echo Widgets points. The other point to raise is that some people take this info and drive the lanes to death, sharing that info with many others maybe even sometimes posting the info somewhere else which eventually leads to lanes getting a TRO or closed for good.

Food for thought.

Good point .. Two of the lanes I drive infrequently are brilliant simply because very few people drive them! If I gave the locations out to everyone how soon would they become just another rutted, blast through it, lanes that are now hard to drive? No worries taking people down them when they come out with me, they can mark their own maps up, but I dislike simply passing on info ... 'specially when it's taken me ages to get it, check it's legality, then driven it to make sure it's worth it!

Understood and i agree.

Had a good afternoon with Paul today, nice few lanes round Maltby.

Cheers Paul.

I agree with Paul and Griff, the locations of some greenlanes are a guarded secret for most, simply for the amount of time and effort it takes to research them and the moment they get published in magazines or the interweb they'll get abused by someone or another...

Best thing is to hook up with a local club or group and go out with them, there will always be someone prepaired to take you laning, at that point you will start collecting these locations for yourself.

I joined GLASS to get full access to Trailwise (no convenient Landy clubs for me to join), which I've found to be a useful if somewhat patchy resource.

Many of the records in my area are terribly out of date, and even I have found byways not in the database - which surprised me as a Newbie.

I have been exploring the local lanes mainly on foot at the moment, and have found some real gems (and some complete messes). I'm lucky that both Surrey and Hampshire have pretty good interactive mapping of their RoW network and searchable TROs so it is easy to prepare my maps before heading out.

I use Anquet on my Windows5 device which is fine - Trailwise have just completed an exporter for the latest Anquet export format which helps too.

I do think there is little substitute for experience though - linking up with someone who has travelled the lanes before and who can help. Makes a big difference I think.

Sorry mate, I just use either the PDA or Laptop ... never felt the need to use the phone as they work so well, and I don't have a i-phone either .. ;)

I tried google maps on my LG touch-phone (dunno what it's called) but tbh it was ****e.
