Hello, thank you for looking at my post, and hopefully you will be able to help or throw some info my way..

I have a 300tdi (n-reg)

Over the last few months i have been hearing a sort of sqiushy fliud sound coming from around my centre console... Nobody can hear it but me.. my partner says im hearing things... However the sound as worsened and now he has heard it.. We have been advised to have gear box oil change Because we are having a problem with 2nd gear first thing on a morning when cold he partner says it will go as soon has we have the oil change.

After speaking to my friend, he says it maybe that i have water in heater matrix..?? the heater is working fine, however i will say that it isnt has hot as it used to be... Also i do seem to be using more water over the last few months.. We have checked engine, water pump, bottle etc and no signs of leaks, also no wet carpet or footwells..

What are your opinions..??

Erm..yes...do the oil change...weren't you listening?? And the matrix should not be dry, check hoses....again...deaf?

not deaf dont need ears to read..ha ha

Thank you for the advice on the subject, however can you explain why i am hearing this sqiushy sound and i wasnt before..

If the heater matrix is at fault like i have been told it maybe Is it squishing sound like this because of a blockage in heater matrix... ?? :boink:

Possibly...if there's a blockage it will cause some pressure in the system and a lack of hot air output at the heater vents. Doubt you'd hear that from the gearbox though..if you're low on oil that will cause the prob engaging 2nd...an oil change wont harm but you may have worn the bearings.

Thank you... and thank you for your patience..x

Sounds to me like you have 2 unconnected problems - gearbox and heater matrix. My heater matrix blew a month ago at 80mph on the M40, dumped very hot water into the footwells and filled the car with so much steam and smoke that I couldn`t even see the door pull from inside - best avoided if you can.
If it was me I`d change the gearbox oil and see if that sorts out the 2nd gear problem, get the head pressure tested to see if there is a head gasket problem, and assuming not, get the heater matrix out (which was a bitch to do on my RR, only accessible via the dash/front fascia). A new matrix is about £60 on mine and they are apparently a known weak spot.
