I don't know about a disco, but I have towed 17tons with a defender and my gearbox still works.
3.5 ton braked legally but **** loads in low lorrys etc try it if it breaks thats probably a little heavy
the gearbox may get knackered but it wont implode unless your at the bottom of atlantic
