Max wadding depth surely depends on the length of barrel and charge ...

The max depth is just below the door. Go above that and you're in for a world of hurt when the door seals let go and flood the BeCM.

You will have to be careful where you put the wadding though, it may get waterlogged if you go wading in water more than 500 mm deep.
