Ha, that would be funny.
I'm doing it in an Impreza, have decided

"So if you have an ATV more than 16 years old then you’ve already found your vehicle, or if you decide to purchase one exclusively for the Maroc, we can give you some advice. Nissan Patrol, Suzuki Samurai or Lada Niva are good choices, but there are many more."

I think by ATV they mean 4x4 not quad bike!

my wife asked if the kids can come too ! lol

Sure, I think you have to do the orienteering one the first time, so I guess it will be slightly less of a desert race (although I'm sure some racing could be arranged).

You should get a Lada Niva

i learnt to drive in a lada niva :p when i was 12. It was my dads pride and joy.

Good cars!

I dont want one though :p i have flashbacks of being burnt of the back of the legs by sunscorched vinyl on beach holidays :p

It turns out the organizer lives in my town, and as he is a dyed-in-the-wool car guy and his go to the same school as my kids, we have become friends since I entered. If anyone has any questions that a web site doesn't appear to answer, let me know and I will ask him.

I am entered in the "Adventure" category, which is more of a navigational exercise than a full blown R.A.I.D. You're supposed to have completed one event in the Adventure category (or be able to demonstrate experience in similar types of events in the past) before you can enter the "RAID" category, but I have a feeling there is some flexibility there if you don't come across as a total hoon during your entry process. But in speaking with Rui, the organizer, he said with a smile: "The adventure category is not... well... it's not easy." So I think it will be a good place to be for the first time, and a good way to get a feel for the event.
