Hi,
I have a number of workshop/maintenance & parts catalogues on emailable downloadable PDF format if any one wants any. You will have to print them off your PC and make a binder for them. There are various landy, 101, ambulance, FFR series 2, Minerva & South African spec landy. There is a sankey maintenance manual too.

pm with your requirements, they are free

Hello there, have you got a manual on a 2002, Freelander GS, 1800cc. I'm trying to find out what the 2 yellow switches are on the gear lever and how to use them. I assume they are a change of gear train / 2 / 4 wheel drive?
As you can probably tell, this is my first Freelander so its a big learning curve right now.
I hear that its difficult to take the rear section of the roof off, is that true?

many thanks, NewBoy75

nope - i dont - not quite sure why yu want to spell the word "yuo" - but never mind .:D

and if yu wish to be pedantic "yeah" is spelled as I have - not "yer". If anything, "yer" is coloquial for "you are"

Welcome to the party newboy75.

You cannot control when the freelander goes in and out of 4 wheel drive, it is automatic and controlled by the VCU or viscous coupling unit located under the middle of the vehicle between the two props.

the yellow switches (two?) are for hill descent control. when switched on, (only operates in 1st and reverse) controls the speed of the vehicle when going down a hill, provided you take all your feet off the pedals.

if you go to greenoval.com, you can download something called the Rave CD. This is a combination of both landrover workshop manual and user manual, and will have the complete freelander user manual within it. This will answer about 75% of your questions. The next 20% can probably be answered by members of this forum. The remaining 5% are only explained by the phrase "another freelander idiosyncracy"

the rear cover does come off reasonably easily once you've done it once, but it is big and bulky, so is better done by two people.
