Hi, does anyone know how to manually lower the tailgate glass on a 5 door 2003 freelander? The glass is fully raised. When i press the button inside the car, it just makes a noise or beeps at me. The wire is broken, we know that, but we need to get the glass lowered in order to get acces to the clamp bolts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Emily

swift blow with hammer or a piece of spark plug insulator works well

it's bleeping cos it needs calibrating, which you can't do until you've replaced the wire.

if you know the wire has definitely broken, it will be the other section of wire holding it up, if you cut it, then it should drop. only do this if you know the wire is broken as this is a one way trip ! (make sure you have a replacement before you start)

when mine went, i managed to get my hand inside the door enough to undo the clamp bolts using a small socket set.

where you can see the clamps, use a marker pen to mark their position on the glass as it will make it easier to re-assemble.

good luck
