Yesterday I was rock crawling up a steep track in 1st gear. The day was hot too, about 25ºC and it had been a long climb so the engine oil temp' was showing about 120ºC.

I stopped for about 15mins with the bonnet up just to let things cool then carried on for a bit more.

I know if I pull the brown connector off the coolant outlet elbow on the head the Fans come on full blast as the ECM sees a fault scenario. Is it possible to rig a manual override on the FL1 by diverting on of those two wires through a simple on/off switch so that with the switch in the on, and the circuit closed all is normal and the 'circuit' complete. With it off the circuit is open and the fans would run full blast as the ECM would see that abnormal situation, fans to full blast to protect the motor.

Does that sound feasible?

Yes, although I'd not be overly concerned about oil at 120°C, as long as the coolant teml is within normal operating range.

If you're weather was like ours, you should have gone out Sunday, although the rocks would have been a lot slipperier.

I'd arranged to meet a couple of mates to walk our dogs out at McLeans Island Forrest. Got totally soaked through.
