I'm going to try and lag the heater pipes to see if that makes any odds. Got some old bits of pipe foam laying about that might do the trick. Every little will help. Might get from mildy tepid to the next level. Whatever that may be.

I tried this last year on a N/A, i blocked whole rad off with perspex...after 15 miles i'd cooked the motor...Top Tip...make sure the temp guage works.

I shall be attempting the rubber mat trick this weekend..just drove 40 miles in -10..heater is working well but takes too long to get up to temp...

Note to self..re-read the 1st paragraph.

Took off heater hoses and checked for good flow so now know matrix is not blocked. Checked adjustment of various cables and all in order there. Lagged the heater hoses with some foam pipe insulation (22mm fits just perfect). Yet to tell if this makes any difference but all heat saved for the matrix must be good.
I now suspect the stat is partially open all the time so when the new one arrives I'll swap them over.
