maf help
hi people i just like to no if the maf is my prob
i put the hawkeye on and noticesd that the maf is only reading 29 and 30 at idle
i unpluged it and ran without it the problem is its missing and it dos so with it plugged in or not so is the maf the fault
the car was missing befor i started
plz help me

ok been out in the disco and the power at the bottom end is not very good at all its ok as soon as you get the revs up but till the it dont feal right at all
the maf is still unpluged
things i have done to try to fix the prob is

new fuel reg
cleand fuel pump out
new injector harness
cleand turbo intorcooler out
turbo still bostting 1.4 bar
new fuel filtel and filled with injector cleaner and went for good run
cleand map sensor out

this as been going on for weeks now and is getting worse as time gos on and its worse in a morning till it gets warm then its not a bad i a have a hawkeye if any one know what i miite look for next
if i rev to about 3000 revs then let off i get like a poping (missing sort of sound ) then its like it drops a sylinder off
(its done the droping of sylinder bit for as long as i have had it ) so think this may be normal
plz help me if u can thanks

fit a EGR bypass kit might help a tad , could be the fly-by-wire throttle peddle .
could whined the turbo waste gate lever out a turn (did help my 110 picks up much better);)

the egr as been done with the bye pass kit about a year ago the ecu as had a remap as well wich was done about the same time
fly-by-wire throttle peddle sorry not sure what you mean ? and i have open the wastagte rod up a bit and no diffreans thanks for the reply

If you have made the wastegate rod longer you have turned the boost down as the wastegate will open earlier. May be why it is sluggish.

If you have made the wastegate rod shorter then you may have turned the boost up too much. More than 1bar and the ECU switches to limp mode = SLUGGISH

No fault codes from the engine ECU? The MAF reading is low, but this may not be the MAF itself. It may be reading correctly, and the issue is further down the line. Hold revs at 3000 and note down the MAF live data reading. Are you sure the EGR side of things is OK? No leaking?

With any of these sorts of issues, you need to check fuel pressure on these Td5 engines, otherwise you will be running around in circles. Do you have access to one, otherwise order one from SPX tools:
SPX Catalog - TEST EQUIPMENT - FUEL PRESSURE TEST EQUIPMENT - FUEL PRESSURE 310-115

You'll need it again sometime!

What is the manifold pressure peaking at on live data?

My td5 went gutless and i changed a few bits then found out some test figures for the map (manifold absolute pressure) sensor which is mounted in the inlet manifold and this was out of range new sensor drove like a new car.
Basically it tells the car how much boost and what temperature its seeing.
Cant remember price as was a long time ago but was genuine and 40 quid rings a bell.
