the one that has pulled the thread get a helicoil for, the one thast snapped drill it all the way through to about 5mm then heat the area upa little and use a ez out.
Helicoils are bloody brilliant!
Would that be on planes? There is something like 200,000 of them in a 747;-)Helicoils are 'sh1t' but they are the best best option in some circumstances.
Helicoils are 'sh1t' but they are the best best option in some circumstances. I much prefer a machined insert where possible.
I'd go for the ones called Heli-coilI quite fancy having a go at helicoil, is there a brand to have or are they pretty much all the same?
You are quite wrong, I use them all the time. For example the wheel hubs on Porsche 996 and Boxsters are aluminium and are prone to the brake caliper retaining threads failing the second or third time a caliper is removed for maintenance. As these cars are getting a few years old now, when we service the brakes it is quite usual to have to helicoil one or more of the caliper retaining threads. That is the voice of someone that dosen't know what or how to use the product properly.
they have the attitude it didn't work ( they used it wrong) so its ****. Do you know millions of dollars of equipment are saved every year by that product.
