Hi got m&s lights again, and this time blowing fuses.
The internal fuse box was wet, dried it out hopefully sealed the windscreen leak and refitted the fuse box.
Used my nanocom for first time and cancelled the lights but they return as soon as I start the engine.
I'm sure the fault said "high something and a short circuit." Any ideas would be really appreciated, I'll look for the code again tomorrow.

Just plugged in and got the code p1613. If anyone has any idea please.
I checked for oil at the ecu and nothing.
that fault code is related to the immobiliser- key transponder not communicating i believe, as for m&s lights, try moving the gear lever (assuming its an auto) back and forth 'vigorously' - worked for me- sticky xyz switch.

Cheers Bob, contacted the guy who repairs the xyz switch and he says its not switch related. Ill try ut though. The car starts and runs but blows fuse when try select anything. Wondering if harness fault?

Here's the info about that code retrieved from the autobox ECU, most probably chaffed wiring above the transfer box but can be ECU fault too

you have to remove the console and follow the loom from above first where it passes above the transfer box cos there is a common place for chaffing

Update on the highside switch fault.
Removed the gearbox loom and found chafing etc had the loom repaired and refitted but still the fault is there. Any help would be appreciated and as to the location of the switch please.

Looks as though me putting bigger fuses in a wet fusebox to get home killed my transmission ecu.
Just fitted new s/h unit and fault code gone. Now to put everything back!!!!

Hoping someone can help me! Drove though a puddle of water last week and gearbox starting hunting for gears and M&S lights came on and have stayed on ever since. Stuck in limp mode. When I turn on the ignition without even starting the motor, the lights start flashing. I have removed the xyz switch and serviced it (not for the first time) but it seemed dry. I checked all the connections at the gearbox and sprayed them and cleaned them - they too appeared dry. Checked earths and also starter solenoid lead, but no change. The lights flash on the dash only not at the gear selector. Battery is strong and while I found some oil in the harness to ECU, I've cleaned that and can't believe that's the problem, especially when this all started going through a pool of water. I have had my mechanic hook it up to his Delphi scanner and the following faults appear and can't be cleared:

Solenoid valve lock up clutch. Short to ground/open circuit. Some other similar fault codes (Solenoid Valve 1 & 2)

Can anyone advise could the XYZ switch still be faulty?
Where is the "console" with 14 rivits?!
Am I right in interpreting the fault codes as a short some where in the harness between XYZ switch and gearbox?

Many thanks for your help!
Paul

I know you mentioned your battery is strong but how are both battery leads looking?
Make sure they aren't frayed and that hey are securely tightened onto the battery posts.

Console is in the middle between the driver and passenger. Once you've got down to removing it you'll see the pop rivets that need to be drilled out and eventually replaced.

Late to reply, but I did manage to strip the console and access the wiring harness which to my disappointment seemed fine. But when I cut open the sheath covering the wires, I found a wire which was just about to part. Soldered in a new section and problem solved. So don't assume that because the harness cover seems in good condition that the wires inside are not damaged. Thanks for all the help here.
