Now then I have an offer of a lt77 which I'd like to stuff in my series, thing is its from a V8 3.5 petrol, is the 300tdi and the v8 the same box, or should I turn this one down.

Lt77 to start I think then changed to the lt85 only on the v8 but that was later
I think the lt77 gearbox is the same just different bellhousing and input shaft
If you don't take the v8 gearbox anychance I could get a look in
I need a box for my v8

I have an LT 85 out of my 1984 V8 110, it's a bit noisy at times but I'm told they are like that after a few miles, it's got a well worn 1.22 t/b attached which is a bit clunky, if you can collect it's yours for fifty pounds as nobody seems interested in it.. :)

I know crap innit.
I'dve offered to go and collect it pobs, and put it on a carrier, but its over a 100 miles for me to go.
Message the geyser and see if he'll get it collected by parcelfarce, if he needs the dough he'll do it.

what do you want an LT85 or LT77 for a V8?
I have an LT77 for a V8 needs a transfer box lt230 apparently 30k miles from a RR classic the tranny box was defo low milage and it looked like the whole unit was original. However its a short stick version which means it may be no good to you depending on your intentions. Yours for 50 quid but as I say looked in good nick but can offer no gurantees i can meet halfway if you think its worth a shout.

Interesting thing that, I just had a look, sort of a reverse auction where transport agencies send you a quote and you pick the cheapest.
I wonder if its reliable.

all I can say is it worked for us. we only had a couple of bids on our job, but it was a big, heavy and awkward thing. you can choose your bidder based on the feedback he's got, you don't have to choose the cheapest one.
