Morning,

This is probably going to sound like a very stupid question but believe it or not there is some logic behind it. :)

The front facing casing extension on the offset output. What is inside it and why does it need to exist?

It's obviously not there for looks and not is it there to just house an extended shaft but the casing designs change over the models and I'd like to understand what working parts are inside and what the function is.

The basic reason for this is to learn why you cannot remove it and fit a shorter yoked output through a bespoke facing plate.
