Guys,

Does anyone know where I can source* an injector pump drive sprocket retaining tool (LRT-12-029 fka 18G.1457) for a Lucas CAV pump on a 1991 Defender (12J n/a diesel)?

* Beg, borrow, filtch or buy for less than £122 (Yea really! ) on the Dingocraft web site.

Any help appreciated

They are made and sold by SPX-01327-303482.You might find that the cost of the tool plus postage is not much less than£120tho.It is a handy tool if you remove the pump.I have one which I would lend if you can assure me of your bona fides and deal with postage or collection.pm if interested.

I'm afraid that I cannot find this catalogue number (01327-303482) on the SPX website but perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place?

I have a leak on the the throttle spindle of the injector pump and the plan is that I take the pump off and let my local diesel specialist have it to replace the spindle, "O" ring seal and top cover (they have the assured me that this the only solution because the hole in the top cover wears to oval). In order to retain the pump drive in place, I will need this special tool but in view of the fact that I will only need to do this once (hopefully), It seems a waste to fork out £120 odd just for a "one off".

Yes!Of SPX.

Paul,I hope I emailed you my phone no.but not sure if acct still active.Tbh I never use the computer except banking and landyzone.Phone or pm for best results.If you want to fix a leak from the spindle shaft you dont need to remove the pump.I think this can be done by removing the governor housing.Diesel specialist will advise.I usually get the pumps reconned as whatever has caused the leak(grit,wter in fuel)may have caused other damage to the pump.Best of luck.

Easy in situ job, injections pumps are a doddle to work on anyway, as long as you remember where the bits go.

Undo the throttle control linkage on the top, take the spacer out, carefully pick the o-ring out, replace, refit spacer and linkages. Job done.
