Low oil !? I can't tell !!! Help !

Hi everyone.

Just been checking the oil on my Range Rover (P38) and the dip stick isn't registering ANYTHING !!

When I first pull it, there is plenty of oil on it. I give it a wipe, re-dip fully and pull backout, but it's as dry as when I wiped it !!!

The oil light is working on the dash. It comes on then goes out as soon as she is started.

Am I missing something here? Bit worried........

YU IS MISSING OIL!!!!!!!!

the oil level is wot yu find after wiping the dipstick clean.

there is oil in it.................

even topped it up a little, but still nothing!

keep toppin it up so the oil gets up to the full mark wiv ya car on the flat. Leave it 15 mins between top ups, to allow the oil to filter down to the sump.

all sorted !!

just about 1 litre................. thank goodness.
