Did oil and filters on the 200tdi on Wednesday. Done about 800miles since. This evening when coming through the village to the mother in laws the oil pressure warning light came on (on properly not a flicker). Went off again momentarily but came back. Probably did this for about 400m before pulling onto the driveway.

On inspection there is oil everywhere on the right hand side of the engine and no oil (not registering on the dipstick) in the engine and now a lot of nice oily drips on the mother in laws gravel drive.

Anyone got any suggestions. Immediate plan is to get some oil and fill it up, then see if it will start and if it does if I can see where it is pouring out from. Doesn’t show very well in the photos but there is a pool of oil in the engine mount. And the oil cooler pipes were new Steve Parker conversions last Easter.

My Fiat looked like that when the incorrectly supplied filter finally blew the O ring out.

(Right box, wrong filter, felt 'different' when I fitted it, but looked ok!).

Oil pressure switch.
Oil filter, especially as just been replaced.
Oil cooler hoses.
I will check the filter. That was my first thought.
Oil cooler hoses are not even 12 months old but will check them as well.
Pressure switch I had not thought of. Will check that as well.

I assume the best plan is to fill it up and run it to see where it is leaking?

Had similar with my 200Tdi last October. Turned out to be a failed oil cooler pipe.
Having thought about it overnight the oil cooler pipes are now the o-ring style that I have not had before. So although the pipes are new (doesn’t mean they cannot fail) I guess it could just as easily be one of the o-rings that has let go in the connector.

Littele black oil goes a long way, had mot fail on truck last week, oil all over as rocker cover seal was not seated correctly, mess was all over test lane, ministry man not happy! but when I fixed the leak and checked the oil it was not even down a litre out of a total capacity of 40 litres.

Give that man a cookie. It was the oil cooler pipe. Despite being new for the rebuild last year one of them had been rubbing on the steering column and had worn through! A new set ordered (at great expense) and I will do more this time to make sure they do not touch anything. Black one, although no longer touching in the photo clearly was at one point.

That was not the case with this Unfortunatly. Took 7l to get it back to full on the dipstick. So it had just pumped all its oil out. .

Other than replacement is there anything that is likely to repair an hole in an oil cooler pipe temporarily enough to be able to get me home (about 20miles). Or am I leaving it at the mother in laws and seeing if I can get the series to raise form it’s winter slumber for a few days while I wait for parts?

Assuming that it's 'rubber', cut, insert a tight fitting metal pipe and then two or four hose clips works.
That would work if I was at home but the mother in laws tools consist of a single battered screwdriver that has been used as a chisel and the free Allen keys you get with flatpack! So trying to find anything useful here is a bit of a non Starter. I have ordered a replacement which has nearly doubled in price from Steve Parker in the 18months since my rebuild.

My pipe failed at the join with the oil cooler and dropped most of the oil very quickly. I managed to stop in time so no damage done but had to get the 90 recovered home.
