hi everyone just got my first landy (discovery td5 1998) drove it 120 miles home and when got home it was chucking out diesel like a tap running , seems to be coming out of the diesel fuel filter underneath the disco, could it be the seal thats gone or a new fuel filter needed.john4wwf:(

:welcome2: to landyzone. Congrats on your purchase too.:)

It could be any number of things. It could just be that the filter has worked loose and requires re-tightening, It could be the seals on the filter are knackered, it could be the drain bung on the bottom is knackered, it could be the filter housing is cracked or it could be a pipe is split or worn through or not properly connected.

Does the filter look new or fairly old?

hi ratty , have found out the geezer who sold me the disco had fitted a new one so must have worked its way loose somehow on way home will sort it tomorrow , cheers john4wwf:)

Nice one. It's worth keeping a spare filter including a plastic water drain valve onboard at all times. They do tend to like to come loose or the drain valve or water sensors snap or strip.
