looking to buy...

hi, i'm looking for a disco and was wondering what the main things are to look out for when buying one? do the LPG conversions run well?? how good are they compared to the diesel engine?? also how good are the automatic boxes compared to manual ones? better?? worse?? and finally there are a lot of high milage examples for sale, should i be avoiding these??

Thats such these questions to myself & after many weeks of research, I plumped and parted money for a late 03 Td5 Auto....

Do ya research and if it takes afew weeks, then so be it and dont let anyone talk you into it, if you dont like what you see, walk away.

what mileage and usage are you going to use a discovery for... LPG looks good on mother earth & at 50 pence per litre or there abouts look attractive, but then here comes the crap and hassle that you might not want to put up with as followed

what local filling stations are there where you live... When you go on a trip, you got to plan it and know where you going to fill up..at the end of the day you cant find a LPG stop then its a thirsty V8 petrol engine to fill.... Take one or two 25 lt jerry cans with you....lol

then theres the maintence issue... are you going to get your hands dirty or are you taking it to a garage,can they fix your truck with the LPG system and if not.. how far you got to travel to get this fix.. Plus any LPG system needs annual servicing by an approved repairer by the type thats already installed.

Diesal doesnt look at all a bad option, makes no difference auto or manual, thats down to person choice, but discoverys are no performance car,
