i'm looking for a discovery,
ideally with some tax and mot,with good engine and gear box
i'm not after somthing mint as i don't thave silly money to spend.
looking around £500-£600 expecting some work,but don't want basket case as i,ve been there before.

so if you know of anything please let me know, i'm in the west midlands
and don't have the ability to trailer one back, this is why looking for tax and mot.

i look forward to hearing form you, and any guidance you could all provide would be good

if you dont want a basket case (rust) then you might need a bigger budget

I reckon you'll be lucky mate, to find one with tax and mot and a runner for £500-ish. The problem is that if someone is wanting to get rid of one, they'll cash in the tax, break the car for parts and almost certainly get more money.

Don't take offence but I reckon you probably don't have enough money in the kitty.

I paid £ 500 for K plate mot failure. Its last MOT failed on 9 issues, ( all rust related ), they were all repaired but with a further 8 advisories. This years MOT was just too much for the old girl and thats when I got it.

I just picked up a 300 TDI MOT failure for £ 500. Amazingly it has very little " bad " rust but failed on suspension leaks and ball joints !.

I,m going to " love " this one and not " abuse " it like I do the 200 on P&P days.
I,d say that the mere fact that a Disco has T&T on it would put it close the grand mark.

Friend of mine has a '96 Disco available - MOT expired, likely to fail on rust, but otherwise in good nick. Alloys included. Offers in the region of £900

I got offered today an S reg V8 auto disco2 with 80K on the clock for a grand.

neded a noo eggsauce tho.

i,ve got one a discovery 300tdi well within budget,
£450, mot till feb11 & taxed till aug10,
few sill jobs need doing,
clutch slave cylinder weeping,
needs exhaust looking at,
rear electric windows not working,
rear bumber could do with rub down or replace,
there may be other jobs but will have to see,
all welding done last year
service history

so now i will be asking you all for your words of wisdom, and look forward to
joining in and getting stuck in to my disco.
