Hi all,

Does anyone know of a good mechanic in Birmingham? I have a 4.6 1999 P38, LPG converted.
I’ve been quoted £120 by Tysley4x4 to conduct a health check. Are they any good?

What car are you looking at? Where actually are you? I can recommend a good one in Cutnall Green which might work if you are South Birmingham.

What kind of health check are you looking for? What do you expect to find?
So, I've realised I don't need a health check for now.

I need my coolant leak and potential oil leak investigated. I have asked around on other forums, but the more answers I get, the better.

The driver's side footwell is slightly damp. It was not enough for the carpet to soak, but the pink padding underneath was wet.

picture - https://ibb.co/1f4fqHB - the coolant drips down from under the engine block.

drivers side footwell.. the padding isnt pink, but coolant is, or at least it can be. couldbe your heater matrix is leaking at the o-ring connectors, its a known issue. if you remove the drivers side kick panel, you should be able to see with the aid of a torch
the photo looks like an oil leak, hard to say if its the rocker cover (likely) or head gasket (possible)

I'll try that today, thanks.

Regarding O-Ring connectors, following this guide, can I also access blend motors for replacement?

you can access the drivers side blend motor easily, along with the distribution motor (a bit harder), the passenger side one is more than a 5 min job
the o-rings on mine look like they've been gummed up with silicone bath sealer, never to leak again, so i've not had that joy

so, I thought I'd inspect the O Rings, and it turns out they were done before and they aren't leaking so I suspect the previous owner didn't change the adhesive padding. I cut the carpet out so I can replace it.

As for the coolant leak underneath, I don't know what to do further so I've got no option but to get it inspected.
