Thinking of going for a bit if a road trip soon in the disco , I'm thinking of taking a few bits and bobs with me like water oil gaffer tape few tools
Is there anything that you take with when going for a long drive?

Depends what you mean by "long drive". I regularly drive a 400 mile trip in my D2 V8, and I'm going to be covering 1600 miles next week. Aside from checking fluids before each leg, I don't prep it any more than any other vehicle, and I don't carry a whole list of spares "just in case". Even when I had Series 109"s and Defenders, I didn't worry about break-downs, because I knew I maintained the cars properly.

Check rad works fine.i just did 900 miles in mine.and it got hot.changed rad in cornwall coz mine had worn out and wasnt circulating to well and it was fine the rest way. Just do a service b4 you go.and keep a bottle of each fluid just to top up.

I've been to Germany and Portugal, if I couldn't just jump in and drive 1600 + miles there and the same back I wouldn't own the vehicle let alone have a "long drive" with it, although I did have a water pump bearing fail last year only two miles from home so any thing can happen, so take a spare water pump with u. :D

Well I'm back from my cruise , 700 miles done and not a grumble from it no lose of coolant or oil at all , got to say I'm over the moon with this disco and it now pulls and drives even better an smoother than before I left so looks like a good old drive has done it well ,

Now to unload the tools and spares I took just in case ...

I'm doing give or take 1000 miles a week in my d2 and have not once thought about taking spares. Nearly knocking on 200000 miles but seems sound to me. Hopefully won't need any spares anytime soon either!!

as said before if your worried about it then there must be possible problems that your aware of and so sort them before hand then just the usual fluids and a couple of spanners is all I would take but then I am confident that my cars will do the job. even so I nearly got caught out by a cop pushing me into a chamfered kurb and my cv joint causing major problems on the way down to cornwall but my old cav made it there and back in one piece which was 600 miles

I've done at least 8 trips this year over 400 miles a day and 2 at 700 miles in a day and Larry has been fine on all of them and not used any water or oil. I don't think Disco's are as bad as people think they are unless they are abused.

Thats ####ed it, he will blow up on the next trip to the shops.

I don't worry about fires, I have a fire extinguisher I carry for work and a first aid kit with a burns kit included ;)
