Just do your best to maintain it and get in and go. I go everywhere in mine all the time and wouldn't hesitate to go to England or Italy in it, as we have done before.
You could end up with a car full of spares and very little luggage or you can upgrade your recovery and know it'll be delivered home if needs be. Get out there and enjoy yourselves 😎

Its a little white lever behind the headlamp cover on our 2011, makes the beam flat, 2012 maybe different.

just had a look. passenger side grey cover comes off, nothing in there. drivers side wont budge! need to solve that, not sure how, theres not much room for any tools

got it off eventually!! blimey thats tough, not sure why
i can see a little white lever that clicks up and down, but the book only says move the lever to the alternate position!!

thing is, lever sits in the middle, so i dont know if they are properly set

right.. headlights..

i was looking at the wrong lever!! thought it was this one, hope i've not broked it

That's awesome thanks!! Are you lhd or rhd lamps and what position is the switch for you? Assuming mine should be opposite.. I'm sure i can check against a wall though to be sure

Ours is LHD, think mine is down. but yours maybe down but move up and it pulls down the shield.
So just go opposite to what you have :).

You need to carry spare specs if you need them for driving. Winter tyres are now obligatory in many French mountain region, best to check on line.
thankfully dont need specs at all, yet!! apart from in the office I use tinted lenses without any prescription because the lighting is appalling

If you vehicle is maintained to a good standard you will be ok have done multiple trips to Croatia I do it in one hit and that is in a defender td5 try and stick to the motorways less stress full more services enjoy it 😊😊

yeah sticking to the motorway is quicker for us/you that just want to go home.
We have said many times we should take a week to do the trip to see the places we keep saying “that looks nice” ;).

Really depends on why you are doing the trip and how much time you have.

Insurance with recovery is a must IMO. Breakdown recovery on a French motorway is now €178.70 in working hours and €268.05 out of working hours and that's just recovery to the nearest garage.
My existing recovery company won't cover the landy in EU, probably because it's over 10 years old

This is my dipped beam pattern!! Doesn't look quite right. There's a tick on the driver's side and it looks brighter. I was as square in the the wall as i could see without a tape measure...
