London Low Emission Zone - LEZ

And I just got my 90 CSW reclassified as an estate, so I'll be fine after Jan 2012 now. Wasn't that hard at all really. I don't live in London but just outside, but I do venture into greater London now and again.

The LEZ seemed weird to me, a 300 TDi Disco is fine but a 300 TDi 90 isn't? Huh? What? Run that by me again...

I wonder if my 90 is now worth considerably more as a result?

It just shows you how f**cked up their thinking is. No rhyme nor reason. Its supposed to be based on engine emmisions so it should not make any difference what motor the engine is in. I predict a riot (or several) if they try to impose it under the current rules. I got my TD5 CSW changed so it now says "estate" and lo and behold the LEZ compliance checker now says I'm compliant after 2012. Nothing has changed regarding my engine emmisions. The lunatics are in charge of the asylum.

I would like to know too, I guess that mine can't do this though as it has a van back? Can anybody clarify this?

I do have seats in the back. (sideways bench seats).

I believe so, your reg gets clocked going into the zone and out, so if you're thinking of a long stay in the T5 car park, don't.

£100 per day isn't very reasonable.

Can I ask what you had to do? Is it a simple case of amending the V5 and sending it to DVLA, or do you need to write to them, or is it something more complicated?

I'd be grateful of some advice from someone who has changed their classification.

I'll second that as I would also like to know how to go about this, I can't imagine just phoning the DVLA and saying "Oh by the way my Land Rover has been classified wrongly for the past 14 years, can you change it please":D:D

It getting a bit scary now as more signs are going up and they even got ads on the radio advising of the new rules. I feel a Michael Douglas "Falling Down" moment coming on!!

While on the subject of low emissions has anyone noticed that Heathrow Airport seems to come within the M25? and I wonder if a Jumbo Jet spewing out all its fumes is subject to the LEZ charge:(

Is it a CSW from new, does it state County Station Wagon on the V5C, have you left the seats (all of them) in?

It says 110 Defender SW tdi on the V5, it has 12 seats and always has done from new.

Is there hope?

Just looking at V5 now - Model/type: "110 Defender SW tdi"..... Body type: "Light 4x4 Utility"

I used the info here to compose a letter plus photographs (sorry to link to another landy forum):

I emptied the land rover, folded all the seats down, to make it clear it was a people carrier and not a van. Then took photos, attached those to a nice, concise, polite letter requesting the body type be changed to estate from utility to match the station wagon on the model type.

Circle the body type in section 4. put an asterisk next to it in pen and write estate.

Fill in section 7. with the correct body type.

Send to address on rear of section 10.

Make sure photos include the reg plate, county stickers if you have them.

Note: this only works for genuine county station wagons. It will not work if you have had the vehicle modified or if someone else has. It must say SW in the model section of the V5C.

Also, the 7th digit of the VIN should be a B or M, anything else, forget it.

7th letter is an M. So gonna go for it.

Thanks very much for your help.

Hi

Having a lot of difficulty in gettting answers to LEZ.

I own a 2000 W Plate 110 and from Jan 2012 will be non compliant. If I was able to change tax basis from Light Utility to station wagon I would fail as it would be classed as a mini bus as I have 9 seats and over.

As a TD5 it should be compliant but nobody seems to know.

Checked TFL for particle filters but none abailable at the moment. again nobody knows

I know little about this BUT, if you can get it classed as a minibus you should be able to get exemption from Congestion Charge AND use bus lanes. Might be worth the efffort to get the engine made compliant?

Wouldn't you need a PSV licence and insurance to match? Would be worth it if you visited London regularly.
