Hi guys,

I have just bought a set of 4 tyres for my Freelander and when I went at the garage to get them on...soon discovered that my locking wheel nut removal tool kit was worn out.

1) Does somebody know if the locking wheel nut removal tool kit is universal for all Landrover Freelander (with alloys), ie. i can borrow one from somebody and use it on mine to unscrew the locking wheel nuts?

2) any suggestions on this - from where can i buy a locking wheel nut removal tool kit on its own?

Cheers all, and Happy New Year!!

Ivan

sorry, but it seems they are not universal. on the back of the socket, you will find a two digit number stamped, which is the reference number for that socket / wheel nut combination. You could try posting this number and your location in the vain hope that someone near you has a matching socket, or its a trip to the main stealer for you my friend.

Or most garage/breakdown services have a set of universal "****its" which may help, but then you'll have to buy new locking wheel nuts.

a universal locking wheel nut removal tool..........now there's an idea just think of the hassel you could save everyone if one tool fitted all. and you could have universal ignition and door keys so that if you lost yours you could just stop someone in the street and ask to borrow theirs.

With the shown key one could start any diesel engine in the past. Tractors, trucks, cranes, bulldozers, you name it. That was a real 'universal' key. Only an individual doorlock was the barrier between walking or driving....:D :D
