I have just bought a discovery 3. I noticed that the locking wheel nuts were quite corroded so I bought a new set to put on.
Three of them came off easily enough, but the front off side one will not come off. It is not tight, it is just that when I put the key on it the nut just keeps turning but does not unscrew.
Any ideas how to get it off?

Hi theaksk, If you put your location in your profile there may be someone near you who can help.
Happy New Year,

I do not mind destroying it. Like I say, I have bought another set anyway.
Do you think that a tyre place will be able to get it off then?
i would think this will not be an un- common problem, i don't have any on mine anymore as they were getting worn, so i just got 4 new ordinary nuts, if they want my wheels they can have them. alloys don't really command a great price for theives, unless they are really special! besides my car is classed as an old one, and who would want a Landrover???? lol

I think I agree with you about not having locking nuts on. I have just spent a fortune a Hunters for a new set.
I could have got four ordinary nuts for about £25.
Still to late now I have already bought them.

take em back if you have the reciept, i got 4 of the bay of ebay, kept best locking one for the spare as mine is a D2 so it is at eye level,
Too tech for me the D3, plus mine only did 5k last year, mrs doesn't use it, so it can sit a month without moving! Very economical!!:p

they do if they are this type

Is it possible that the actual stud is turning in the hub. I don't know if they are replacable as a seperate item.

Just to let you know, I took it back to were I bought it from.
They had to grind the top off the nut, weld an hex nut on top and take it off like that. The stud was not damaged. I have looked on the Internet and it seems it is a fairly common fault on Disco 3/4.
