I have just purchased a 2007 discovery. I have realised there is no wheel nut key. I understand the nuts have a letter but can't see it as all nuts are worn. Can anyone advise the best way to establish which key I need and where to get one.

My local tyre fitting place have a box of wheel nut keys for when customers turn up without theirs. Try your local tyre fitting place. If they can get the locking nuts off, throw them away and buy new ones so that you'll have the key.

the base of the nut is steel the outer casing is like an alloy, it looked liked the rust starts on the steel and causes the outer sleeve to expand , causing a nightmare to get the nuts off

have to hammer an oversized socket onto them , so replaced all of them

will try and find some pics

here u go , not my pic but shows what happens , outer sleeve swells

Well I never. These vehicles must have been designed by a team of very special people with very warped minds. I can't believe they were Brummies, they must have got them in from London.

definitely a bad design , very good question on who on earth designed them like this , think i paid around £60 for a set of 16 , then another £30 odd quid for a decent set of locking wheel nuts

well worth it so at least i won't have swollen nuts

Replaced all my locking wheel nuts with normal type as IMO they are more trouble than their worth, not really seen a car on blocks for years now. Do thieves still nick wheels?
