Locking the flywheel

So I’m a total amateur who’s trying to change a cylinder head. I’ve found top dead centre, I’ve locked the camshaft. When I crawled under to lock the flywheel there’s no “notch” to lock the flywheel. I’ve got two coloured links on the timing chain with the groove between them what am I doing wrong?
 
Do you have the correct size locking pin?
You may need to rotate the engine back n forth slightly before the pin locates.
I'm pretty sure when I did the head swap that I didn't bother locking the flywheel, but maybe that's just my memory!
 
I’m assuming the locking pin is the right size. It’s not something I fabricated, I bought the tool with my new cylinder head from Turner Engineering. Ive looked inside and it just looks like a flat piece of metal. I think I’m just going to put it in gear and go for it now I’ve finally go the sockets to take those big inside bolts off, whatever they’re called. Surely if I put it in gear it isn’t going to move?
 
I’m a thicko, I’ve got the email about the reply but I’m not entirely sure what was wrong with the suggestion. I thought it was implying that my flywheel was incorrectly fitted.
