Hello,

Ok, i wanna put some extra lights on my bull bar on my disco.

2 to use for extra main beam (which is all done and dusted)

2 for extra general 'dipped' lighting, which ive checked the regulations for and is all fine and dandy.

How do i wire this up?

Obviously i attach the other end of the lamp to the earth(i think). Do i just attach the lead from the lamps to the back end of the filament of the head lights, or could i just splice the wires, or is this COMPLETELY wrong?!?!?

Cheers

Bex

you earth the lamps (usually a black wire) You then have the choice of connecting the live wire from the lamp and connect it to the dipped wire coming from the headlamp. Or you can buy a switched relay kit which will come with instructions.

My advice would be to do what I've done and buy a pair of relays and wire the lamps thru the relays. do not wire the highbeam lamps direct you will need a relay for those. and an illuminated switch for the dash.

you'll need a relay and wire the same as spots but on dipped beam i.e 30 battery +, 86 earth, 85 to dipped beam, 87 to extra lamps.

I don't know where you got your info from but the only lamps you can use on dipped beam are fogs which must be on a seperate switch and work on dipped only or extra lamps which have the same beam pattern as dipped beam and are properly aligned, you can't have spot lamps wired to dipped beam.

That was the information I had. I've got all 4 of mine wired to the high beam but one pair has "angel eyes led's" and I've got these wired to the dipped beam on the main headlights.

ok makes sense, but being a bit of a novice would you mind breaking that down abit :p

oh and would a wipac relay wiring kit be suitible?

oh i know that, i would have to angle them down and slightly left following the same line as my normal 'dipped' lights.

thnx for your reply clutchdust and redhand

I did break it down!!!

The numbers are on the relay............
terminal 30 goes to the battery positive (fused with a 20A fuse)
" 86 to earth
" 85 to dipped beam positive feed or to a switch
" 87 to the lamps
Negative side of the lamps goes to earth

Yes a wipac relay and wiring would be suitable
