by the way i will be connecting is from my lesuire battery to a switch in the cab.... it will NOT be in with any other lightin circuit !!!

Cheers

Will be no issue for the MOT at all....................infact on my last test, I saw the guy doing the "in car" bit for the tester flicking all the bloody roof spots on etc........was annoying tbh!!

If they dont work then is can fail, any lights that are on the car HAVE to work, even if they are on a different circuit. So get them wired up

No they don't
There is a prescribed list of lights that are testable items in the MOT Testers Manual.
If the lights are not listed they are not testable and therefore cannot fail.
eg front driving/spotlights, front foglights, optional auxillary headlights etc

The only lights that have to work are headlights (sidelights/dipped/full) indicators, tail lights, brake lights and rear fog.

Front fogs and reversing lights are not tested and nor will any other lights you put on the car.

here it is from the mot tester manual

Optional lamps
Any additional position lamps are optional and are not included in the inspection. [/U][/B]

local MOT tester told be any extra lights on the front had to be wired up for the MOT

Your local MOT tester needs to get the manual out and have a read auxilary lights are not testable items, cast your mind back to mk2 granadas that had spot lights fitted between the head lights there not testable items and they were fitted at the factory. If anyones vehicle fails a test for auxilary lights not working ask the tester to show you in the manual where it says they are testable items then ask for an appeal form.

Only factory fitted lights are tested as part of the MOT, roof lights, bonnet lights and working lights are not tested unless they are wired to the main lighting circuit.

Even if they are connected to the same circuit, ie. the main beam, they cannot fail for a blown lamp...

On a related note though, the MOT may pass but you'll really want to read the C&U Regs (i think it is - theres a post on here somewhere with a link) as regards what the police will fine you for should you get a pull. If you are going to use them as main beam headlights (which is the category they would fit into due to mounting location) they need a telltale indicator on the dash and also need to be controlled from the same switch as the normal main beam.

Don't forget Green Lanes are roads too!

aint there some pick sods out there! just my own opinion, but shurley when you go for MOT it`s best to show all work done and everthing sorted, wether its mot item or not. I find if you do this the examiner dont go daft on his checks because they see jobs done properly. you know when mot due so dont start jobs just before if you aint gona finish it.:frusty:

no. I had an arguement with my mot guy who wanted to debate my hand brake. It would hold on 4 out of 5 clicks. He said it needed to be three clicks. Prove it i said.He couldnt. Not withstanding the fact that it was and auto:doh::doh::doh:He passed it.
