Hellooo
Lr90 1987:
How in gods name do i remove those fffffakkin bolts!
I assume it will involves removing the spats.
I started today, battled through the radiator grille, is there really any need for 10 bolts to secure a grille??
Removed rad, oil pipes and all the other screws bolts ect, securing the wing. Only to find 4, utterly inacessable bolts, in my time of very little patience. Also they are captive nuts and so far 50% of captive nuts just 'spin'
Would running a 'skinny' disc down the seam betwix wing and bulkhead?..non!
really dont wanna do that.
HELP:eek:

They are similar fixings to the doors.....you should be able to reach them if you move your heater intake and air intake out of the way.....use a long ratchet

Mine (1984) were a very course screw thread and came out easy so give em a bash first and they should come out

Cherrs guys. Mine appears to be what looks like 14mm bolts??
Either ways its gonna be an arse.
So remove the matrix you say:eek:
on breif inspection, while pondering the job,i thought of that option, but deemed it complex. Will have a go when i start again tomorrow.:p

The heater box is just 6 bolts....4 in engine bay side two in footwell......piece a piddle to remove.....while its out clean it up and spray some wd40 on the fan.....It must be easy cause I did it not long ago.

They are 15mm coarse thread bolts, they go into captive nuts like the door hinges.

If you take the spats off you can get in with extensions, you only need to undo them a little except the top one as the wing will pull up over as the wing is slotted.

Are you replacing the bulkhead or what? If you ARE replacing the bulkhead run an angle grinder down the bulkhead close to the edge, but well within the bulkhead its self. Also make sure the door light switch wires are pulled out first.

Hey guys
I not replacing anything, i am rebuilding my 90, so ideally i need all parts intact.
But as you all said its easy, well once i removed the heater:mad: that took me an age, stupid thing. I thought it was still fixed behind the bulkhead, i did'nt want to force it, so i removed all the inside dash:mad:
Which was a complete ARSE! only to find out that was a futile task.
So irritated in my wasted time i wrestled with the heater and found out it was just the seal on the bulkhead holding it down..lol..how stupid am I?
Dont answer that please.
So i managed both sides and i feel like a god! I love the way it just un-blots, even if all of the bolts are a complete ARSE! they are either inacessable or siezed! I like bolts that snap:D dont have to struggle turning a horrid nut on a bolt that is to long and in a place you cant grind off and just not seized enough to snap:(
HeHe Now all i need to do is remove the roof, rear tub, Bulkhead, and i can remove the engine with absolute ease. Scrap all the crap buy a 200tdi weld the new rear xmember on, fix the bulkhead outriggers, slap it all together, making sure to grease ALL nuts so when i get a galv chassis it will be childs play:love:
