Hi

I noticed a slight lean towards the drivers side ont he landrover, when buying it. I parked it at the garage today, to find it on a slight side incline, and this has really made me look! hehe

Any ideas, or common problems, springs or shockers?

Any cunning ways to check them, diagnose them?

It is now sitting at the garage, awaiting the brakes to be done! Got to find something to do on it, for when the brakes are fixed, hence the lean! haha

springs are different left to right - small lean = front ones on wrong sides, large lean= rear ones or both on wrong sides - i discovered mine by finding a part number on a rear left spring that went with a r.h. spring (l and r sides are looking from back- rh spring is stronger)
 
Mine did the same, and it turned out that it was converted to diesel from petrol, apparently diesels have 11 leafs all round, petrols had 9's. I think.
 
Cheers, will check that! It might be well to get them off, and clean them up, as that is about the only rusty coloured thing on the underside.

Parked at home, there is a very slight lean, unoticeable to most, I have asked a few people, and they couldn't decide which way it was leaning, but to my eyes, engineering eyes it is slight, so the side incline yesterday must have exagerated it, so for now, that is ok.

Could be a dead shock, common problem on nissan patrols. They then lean slightly to one side as the shocker takes a little of the weight off the leaf spring. When they fail, the weight is entirely on the leaf. If you pop over a speed bump, you may feel it bounce uneven - or 'dip' one side.

I could do, but I am not that bothered about it, as it is so minute at the moment, to tell the truth, like I say it is very close, to being right.

If you saw some of the other problems, on other vehicles, both mine and others I helpon, this is not desperate! haha

Hi All,

Just done a search and came across this thread. Mine leans also to the drives side - it always has done and it drives me nuts.
Changed the springs to parabollox and they are apparently not handed. It still leans.
I thought it could just be that there is more wight on that side- fuel tank, batery, fat bloke behing the wheel. But when fat bloke is not in it, it still leans. I measured it with a spirit leavel and its abot 2degress.
Drives great, but optically it vexes me.

Sorry to jump on your thread, but
as a matter of interest is there any difference between left and right hand parabolic springs from Paddocks? I have just replaced all four of mine and the front leans slightly to the drivers side but the rear is quite severe - I couldn't see any markings to differentiate between left and right????

Oops, yes there is a diff.

the landie has a big heavy tank full of fuel on the drivers side + most of the time there is someone sat in the drivers seat when its going anywhere :D

stand them upside down and you'll see that the drivers side ones will be higher off the deck than the near side ;)
