So am winning the battle on my P38 in that electrics and mechanicals are all good (for now!!!).

So working on the cosmetics. One problem is a major leak.

As mentioned, I had a wet headliner behind the sunvisors, I have cleared out the sunroof drains. This seems to have done the trick. Headliner seems dry (slightly damp in front of main light, I guess the windscreen could be seeping!).

So the big problem, is the damp carpet in drivers footwell (Only place) and tiny amount of water sloshing in cable groove under drivers door kick panel. (so guessing same leak)

I am drying this out regularly and parking car facing downhill to protect the BECM (if suddenly, the water gets worse). Area round the BECM is dry, just seems to be the carper underneath driver's feet, not above. Sopping!!

I thought the repair to the rubber at the top of the drivers door would do it!! Obviously not.......

It is not the "o" rings!!! Still dry (thank god!!)

So where else should I look? I can't get the dam grill off below the windscreen, because previous owner stripped off all the cross heads, so will drill this out in the summer.

The pollen filters are clean and dry!

So where else should I look? I may have to wait until the summer for a detailed look, but any quick wins?

Thanks

A/C drains? If you slide under and put your hand up the side of the bellhousing you should feel a rubber ball coming out of the body. Give it a squeeze and you should get an arm full of water and muck. There is one either side. Best of luck

Hey Alan, can't seem them on RAVE.....Couldn't work out if you meant inside the car (some posts talk about draining all over the carpet?)? Bellhousing suggests, outside under the car???

Thanks .....:)

Under the car, either side of the bell housing for the drains, be prepared for a wet arm.
Another favorite leak is the screw heads on the metalwork near the pollen filter lids and the lids themselves. The pollen filters may not be wet but the water can run down into the car. I ran a bead of silicone along the top of the pollen filter lids, comes apart easy enough when you need to change the filters, I also covered all the screw heads on the valence. Seems to have worked for me.
The roof can also leak where the join is under the plastic strip, there is a piece you can slide back for fitting a roof rack, not easy to move but worth a look. Some have filled the hole in there with silicone.

Mine turned out to be the pollen filter lids and the screws, the ac drains are up by the gearbox bell housing underneath and further up than you might expect.

Quick update......removed pollen filters (very clean but a little damp in places). Water is in there!! Not down as far as motors. The was a hell of a lot of leaves sitting on top of the filters!!! So I will seal as advised with silicon today.

Hi Rachel,
Was having a read on range rovers.net last night at work ( bored) and came across a thread that describes your problem. A chap in Scotland was having the same problem ( wet headlining and sun visors) turned out to be what Datatek has mention about roof rails. He slid back the roof rack slides at the front of the vehicle and get his finger under the strip and with a upward pill you can lift plastic rail from clips. What he found was where the two panels meet at the front just above screen was a small hole, he filled the small hole with sealer and all was good again. Took him near on 2 years to find the leak but all is bone dry now. May be worth a look.
Paul.
