you shouldnt need to remove bottom swivel pin
i never remove bottom pin to change swivel bearings and chrome ball etc, silicone similar to what you seal windows and baths etcThat will be a bit of help. I didd one a few years ago on a 90 but cant remember everything. I am not looking forward to this lol. I was going to use the one shot grease. What is rtv sealant?
They will be stepped/visibly worn when you pull the bottom bearing off for inspection
The kits are supplied with a new pin but I think it's normally upper...
On the contrary, most swivels I have pulled have had worn bottom pins!
Some more than others like and all but the very worst are reuseable but yes I do find them stepped occasionally.
Worst case was one burred over so it was difficult to remove from the knuckle.
Unless it's me being unlucky I'm surprised you say that JM, or are you more a gearbox man? I've seen more than my fair share of swivels these past few years!![]()
