Opened my Defender's (2006) door over the weekend to find the load space soaked. Tried to dry it out with a towel to find the cause but cannot see anything obvious. The load area carpet was wet again this morning after more rain. When I open the door there is a splosh of water that hits the ground from the door, but that seems to have always happened!

Anybody got any ideas? The seals look fine - but I'll recheck. Could it be the door needs rehanging? Is there something else I should look out for? Frustrating!!!!

You're probably right - my Defender has a eight major leaks since new - but wet feet and head I can live with, but when it ruins £60 of animal feed I need a solution. Wet is not a option as I also carry some sensitive electronic equipment (currently bagged up and collecting condensation). Bagging everything up is something I could do without. If there is a fix - and I am a mechanical ignoramus - I'd love to know what it is!

firstly

check that the door is closing fully sitting flush with the rear body panel. Check rear glazing rubber and also the rear door seal. Apart from that, do you have a large fish tank in the boot?
