So who's been called out into service then?

Went out for a drive last night through the local village, and ended up recovering 4 cars and a local bus :D

Am quite aware of the 'pictures or it didn't happen' rule, so take it as you will.... (didn't take any, was having too much fun!)

Does amuse me though, that when driving it around you get some looks off people like you are the Antichrist, and are somehow contributing an awful lot more to the decline of the ozone by having a 'big 4x4'. Yet these same people are so grateful of your presence when their ****ty little front wheel drive shopping carts are helplessly spinning wheels in the snow, and they're having a panic attack at the thought of being stranded.

My neighbours tends to look at my Defender with an evil frown, especially when it's covered in mud. Yet last night when one couldn't get off their own driveway, they had nothing but good things to say about it, funny that.

Par for the course is that!!

I get funny looks from some people when I have the bonnet up! One common comment is that if I had a new car I could take it to the garage to be serviced!

At least I know that when I do it, the job has been done properly, and that I have not had to pay £60+ an hour for someone to do a 'computer diagnostic' on it!

We have thick ice here at the moment and no snow, but we were called out a number of times last year to assist the emergency services.

I was out working in my landy from 6pm yesterday until 6.30am this morning. I then went back out in it at 11am and got back in at 4.30pm. I've just started again (6pm) and I'm out and about in it until 6am providing I finish on time.

i did my bit last night, found a bloke out in the country in a dip ( was just passing), had been trying to get up a hill for an hour so i gave him a tow, then on my way home had to tow 3 cars and an ambulance with his blues on (not all at the same time) would have got pics but i think they wer in bait of a rush

I've been too busy digging out my own van today to worry much about anyone else's! Did help out one very hot and dumb blonde in her A6 4wd though. Amazing how people will just continue to walk past when there's someone trying desperately to get moving with wheels spinning. Doesn't take much time to stop and give them a push!

a mate pushed a sainsbury's van up a side road last night. the guy had no recovery gear with him, but as luck would have he had 2 nice big rubber bump stops on rear bumper lol. got a £10 voucher out of it tho

Who called you out?

I'd be quite happy to do something like that myself, if required.
Our organisation is a partner with the local Emergency Planning Unit.

Every county and local authority has one, so contact your council for further details.

Your local police authority has their own, so you could contact them as well.

I had to help some poor american girl out whilst on my travels but the roads are pretty damn clear this year, well done to the councils for sorting the roads out very quickly...

Im expecting a few call outs today to get people off driveways so I have brought the disco in...

I went out yesterday to some places I thought would be a bit tricky for normal cars. There was one guy who was clearly stuck going up hill and there was no way out other than going up said hill. He refused a tow as he said it would be too dangerous,he didn't want to hit the parked cars. However his "safer" method was going as fast as he could up this hill and seeing how far he could get up it  I'm positive he would have been stuck there all day, nevermind..

The vans are all stripped of all tools/jacks/spare wheels/tow hooks. This is so the lease company can charge for the privilege of having your flat tyre changed. When I was out driving my Tesco van in the snow last year, the one time I couldn't dig it out my self, the recovery (Nissan :() had to put a strop around the front subframe.

I myself spent last Sunday delivering meals on wheels in the 101 :D Tailed a van the whole day (apart from towing it up hills ;)). When the hills were too much for the van, we just took the 101 :D
