Advise needed please. Rear wheel "ping" noise

Hi all, I have a FL2 HSE 2007. I was driving home last night and whilst driving right around a roundabout there was a very noticable "pinging" noise from the drivers side rear wheel area, I didn't hit anything on the road, took the car a test drive this morning and there is a whining noise from the same area when I turn hard right but not left...I will call my local garage Monday morning but just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what it might be/have caused this? Thanks.

You're best asking in the Freelander section, rather than the engine section, as few owners venture here.

The noise could be parking break, especially if it's not maintained to LR's annual intervals. Wheel bearing is another, also broken springs are pretty common too.

Handbrake shoe retaining clip broken, recently happened to my D3.
