Hi Stu, when did you last take off the fuel sedimenter and clean inside the bowl?

Cheers

i have never done it. only had it 6 month and only just getin to know how much work is involved in keepin the landy at top form,
so if you could tell me where it is and what to do i will give it a go.

when i say i serviced it i did, engine flush, new oil, filters and water/cooler,
i bet there is so much more i need to do ???

Hi Stu:

1. Fuel sedimenter - this is a canister-looking device which is fixed on the inside of the offside chassis rail, just in front of the rear wheel. It will probably have a white plastic tap on the bottom - DO NOT TOUCH THIS TAP, IT WILL BREAK OFF!

To remove the bowl for cleaning you will need an 11mm ring spanner to remove the securing bolt - access is from the top of the assembly. Undo the bolt and remove the bowl - have a catch tank ready for about 1/2ltr of fuel - sometimes the bowl sticks on it's rubber so tap with a rubber mallet or similar.

You may well find a form of life not seen since Captain Kirk's days, but just clean it out and reinstall.

Start the engine and run on a fast tickover - 1500rpm until it has bled out all the air, takes a couple of minutes, then go for a drive around the block to test.

In addition to the above and the work you have already done, I would recommend the following:

2. Change the gearbox oil, transfer box oil and both axle oils.

3. Change brake and clutch fluids.

4. Change the cambelt, tensioner and idler.

5. Check all turbo hoses for splits, leaks and softness, if in any doubt replace. I replace with the same again but some swear by silicone hoses - depends how deep your pockets are.

6. If not already done, change the coolant.

7. Check and replace where neccesary all brake discs, pads and pipes.

Then enjoy.......................................................

Cheers
Dave

any test i can do ???

yes, disconnect the hose that goes from the lift pump to the fuel filter (disconnect at the fuel filter side, its the one on the top right)

turn the igniton key, if you get fuel all over your bonnet, engine, etc..its working fine..
if it only dribbles fuel.... the lift pump is fked!
