Well, I am a L322 owner by accident and I really enjoyed the p38 I had.

All I can say, the l322 is incredible off road.

Whilst watching some vintage trialling I had to use the car to rescue a driver off the hill.

it was harder to traverse down the hill than up!

The car is fantastic. Agree with most here, avoid being bling and enjoy, whichever RR you have.

Will be nice to see some 405's being used off road...

best of both worlds....

Sat in the doctors reading a last years motor mag road test of the L405, they still think it is the king of 4 x 4's but the final comment made me smile, " a Dacia Duster 4 x 4 will do pretty much anything the L405 will do but for €100,000 less.

The best bit of sense posted was by Saint, did you read it ? He said that there was no way to compare the two, they are two different horses. I am now going to put my fingers in my ears and hum loudly.;):D

Wasn't in this thread...was in another about buying a TD6.... http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/3188098-post28.html

But it still stands true, the P38 is the last of the Land Rover Range Rovers and should only be compared with its stable mates...the L322 is a BMW derived Range Rover designed to compete with the later Merc ML's and the like....

The P38 was Land Rovers answer to the mid 90's explosion of luxury SUV's from other marques, like the early ML's and the up coming X5....but it is still a LAND ROVER...the L322 is a re-branded X5 and not a Land Rover in the truest sense, but it is still worthy of the Green Oval in my eyes...

I currently own both, and have previously owned other Range Rover variants....different vehicles aimed at a different generation of vehicle...

If you don't like the L322, don't buy one and the same with the P38, if you don't like it, don't buy it....

We all have enough to do chasing faults, leaks and hiccups in whatever flavour Range Rover we own, so lets just accept that they are completely different vehicles and move on....

Now...the Evoque, don't even get me started on that slur to the brand!

I agree and likewise my thoughts with the sport.
However.... They sell, and lots of them too. If they didn't exist would Land Rover today........ ?
