Are we agreed or not that the L322 td6 with Beamer engine was undertuned by around 30% on leaving the factory gates.
Have fitted a few tuning boxes to L322s, around 16% increase in horsepower and excellent torque gains with some improvement in fuel economy.
I always fit boxes that come with the provisio that they will not "stress" or over tune/torque the engine.
In short, in my opinion the L322 runs and drives better no turbo lag or gear hunting with the engine optimised within tolerance.
A comparison with a 3.0TD6 Beamer with the same engine and its power output tells its own story.

I have a 330d from the same era as the td6 Range Rover and the engine is glorious, nearly 50mpg when cruising on the motorway, smooth, quiet and powerful from about 1200rpm all the way to the redline.

They should’ve done to the Range Rover what bmw did when they put it in the x5 up the power to 220bhp and have a quick smooth and economical 4x4.

The Range rovers gearbox is at its limits in standard Range Rover tune. Which is a shame as it’s a wonderful engine with great tuning ability. It’s the gearbox that’s stopping me from buying a td6.

From experience it is the underpowered TD6 that gives gearbox problems by making the box work harder than it needs to, hunting for a gear is the giveaway, the latest tuning box has been doing its think for 30,000 mls plus not a murmur not a missed beat, maybe I am just lucky....and the roar when I floor it is something else !

Sounds interesting, what sort of prices are we looking at here????
You will get an excellent well manufactured box for around £140, I always use Blue Spark never had a problem so far, seems crazy to leave all that dormant power doing nothing .

Meant to add speaking to the guy at Bluespark he reckons he can fit a box in 3 minutes, takes me under 10 minutes.
