Hey all. Did a search but couldn’t find anything related to my question.

I just got a 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8. Love the car to bits. Hate the satnav / infotainment.

Does anyone know of a replacement solution so that it’s more up to date?

Alternatively an Apple CarPlay option that allows me to still use the other head unit services such a reversing camera and the various car services menus.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

If it's anything like the other LRs of a similar year, then the answer is not easily.
Most modern vehicles use integrated electronic systems, so replacing one system messes up several more.

Glad you have 1 and are happy with it:)

Do you have the lead in the center cubby that has the old I phone4/I pod connection? you can get an adaptor for the newer plug and play music through there:).
No "air play" till 13/14 I think, to do that would mean **** loads of changes:eek::eek:.
When we got ours we had Satnav updated at LR (weren't cheap although we did add abit more of the world:) ) we are now out dated again and find ourselves driving over fields often (on screen):).
There is a company that does preloaded usb sticks that you plug in but not sure that's compatible with the 2011, they have been mentioned on here before, sorry cant remember who but they were UK based, I guess a phone call would confirm.

As for the quality of the speakers, well we are old farts and deaf (selectively) and find the sound very adequate.

Bottom line is be very very carefull what you mess with as it is all connected, change 1 thing and the others dont like it and then everything goes titsup:eek:

Spend your money on some Diagnostics first:D IID Gap:D before you need it.

As a side note I can get it into 9.6 litres/100klm, I will let you work it out:) dont think thats bad;)

There are systems available, a guy on the Bay does them. However....... they are not cheap, they are not easy, and you may lose some of your sound system if you don't go for all the bells and whistles that are needed.
I think someone on here did a replacement on an earlier one but can't remember who @kds, @backinblack , @Mark Piercy if it wasn't one of you, do you recall who it was?

No idea gold.... I did pull one apart from an l322, green plugs everywhere. The owner said leave it all unplugged.

I prefer to keep all the functions of the existing screen so opted for a separate satnav. £70 lifetime updates.

Not me either @gold rover but have read threads about it on other forums and its not impossible to change the system but (and there are lots of buts) its not easy, not cheap, not without problems, not for the faint hearted, and you will lose some of the other functions so have a google on it.

Agreed. I looked at doing it last year when dash head unit was playing up. Certainly wasn't cheap, wasn't going to be anywhere near easy, and different options for keeping some functions, or losing different functions, or losing some speakers, or, or, or, made me happy when a fix was found for head unit!

Dont do it.........use your phone Google maps has live updates and works. You would lose a good few functions it's expensive, difficult and to be honest pretty pointless.

Saying all that I did fit an android head unit in my p38 but that was due to a dead amp so nothing to lose. And it was pretty simple compared to an L322.

I use a TomTom. Free updates for life and I can move it from L322 to P38 and old motorhome. Navigated to Mexico and back with minor issues.
No Jeeves voice though☹️

I also have a Garmin for the bike but I like the 7" display and music streaming on the Jimwey.

Thanks guys. I’ve done a little more digging which confirms what you’ve all said, ie there is no reliable solution in the market. I’m going to get an iPad Mini and cobble something together.

Has anyone had the issue whereby the Bluetooth phone connection is basically just a mumble? I can’t hear anything the other person is saying. It’s as though they’re speaking through a pillow. When connecting my iPhone via the iPod socket, it repeatedly cuts out. And the DAB doesn’t get a signal. I’ve read something about replacing the Bluetooth module. Has anyone had experience of this?

I would assume the bluetooth module sits in the same place as it does on the 2005 (rear N/S in the boot) and suffers from the same issue of damp so may be worth a look.
