Hey ;)

As some have heard I have recently treated myself and my L322 to an Faultmate MSV-2 !

changing a few settings :D:D all the optional settings that LR don't always tick... lazy unlocking / locking, speed related locking, alarm set / unset churp etc...

loving it :p

ANYHOW.....

just going through my long list of modifications that need doing with the help of the fault mate.

first things first... I have fitted the 2010 rear LED lights to my car around 6 months ago.

all working fine, got around the electrical gremlins etc...

just couldn't get rid of the "check tail light" + "check rear fog light" messages that i get every time the ignition is turned on and off.

i want to turn off the lamp checking for the rear fog and tail lights / disable the warning messages.

any ideas ??

i have looked through the lighting settings and have turned off the tail + rear fog warnings but the warning message still keeps coming on the dash... so the LCM is still checking the condition of the lamps..

is there anyway to stop the ECU testing the lamps ? maybe it needs a combination of tick boxes changing to stop the messages ?

Any ideas ?

much appreciated.

Thanks guys !!

Sorry I carnt help with your issue, as I have no idea.

Just out of interest can you use it to set auto drop to access height when stopped?

no worries,

regarding your question, i wouldn't have a clue ! lol

need to spend some time going through all the settings :p

although why would you want to do that ?

Dont think you can do this it has been discuss before on oher forums and they mentioned that you should just press the button by the window just before you stop !

hmmmm... you reckon the later LCM will have the option to disable the lamp checking ??

i have the setting on my current unit but it doesn't seem to change anything

The later LCM will still do the lamp checking, it's just that it will be checking the lower current of the LED's. Stick a resistor across the lamps to stop the failure report on yours or buy the laps with integrated resistor for fitting to older vehicles.
I doubt you can turn the checking off as it must be regarded as a safety feature.:)

On the 5 series I had when I fitted the Cellis type rear lights deleting the lamp check did nothing apart from for the headlights when I put Xenons in. The rears I had to fit a later LCM which had the an extra option of rear light type. My E46 when I went to the LED tail lights there was no option in the LCM, It was just a question of fitting one and programming it with PA soft so it didn't annoy the mileage. You can cheat it with resistors though.

Bear in mind when your LCM was fitted LED lights wheren't.

I do press the button by the window, but the missis always forgets, and at 8 months pregnant she's struggling to get in and out. So was wondering if you could set it to automatically drop at standstill

So does the fault mate just work in the l322?? Or can it be used on other vehicle too?

The Faultmate works on several vehicles if you buy the appropriate software modules.:)

no ideal to keep dropping when you park up.

means the compressor has to do more work than usually to get the car back up to height each time.

eitherway....

changing subject now...

managed to cure my light checking module errors !!! im now error free !! (well sort of...)

last dash warning at the moment is "check coolant level".

obviously the coolant level is topped up okay but this error still persists !

i have had this before and it used to go away when banging the header tank as thats where the level sensor is (i think) - as there's two cables plugged into the bottom of the tank for something ?

am i right in thinking the level sensor sits in the bottom of the header tank ?

as im guessing this must have failed ?

but i have also read that if the mixture is too weak or strong then that will also bring up the error as it can sense the mixture ratio ?

any ideas ?

cheers guys :)

I thought it was just a level sensor? It would have to be a very complex system to test the mixture levels?

Yeap it is in the bottom!

Yes it does theow a bong if the mixture is weak.

When I got mine it did it so I kept topping up but I found that it was weak and found a leak in therad once replaced flushed out and put OAT coolant the pink one. It was ok then

I have read reports is elecytrically measure the coolant concentration....

But I have topped up the header with just plain water before (now before everyone goes all gaga...I did top up the next day with pur antifreeze to re-balance the levels) but I didn't get a level warning when the header was just full of water...and then the next day when is was full of neat A/F.....

Thanks for your replys.

yea i currently have the pink / OAT in mine.

is this the right type for the TD6 ? as i have heard about the blue type too ?

might have to do a flush through and if that doesn't clear it, change the sensor ! :D

problem sorted now.

no good sticking resistor in as when you are running the lights the resistor gets very hot.

but there okay for short amount of use (ie indicators)

You can run either but you have to do a thorough flush as when blue and pink gets mixed it curdles.

But I think LR recommends the OAT to be used.

Do a thourough flush they do say to do it as good practice. Some do it once a year. But mine says its good for 5 years but ill change it after a couple!!

When you do it clean the sensor and try and descale it a bit would help you. But also if your in doubt buy a new one i dont think its that dear !

yep will do a good flush..

the sensor is only £28 - so if the flush dont sort it then ill get one.

the sensor seems to sit in a sleeve, ie you can take it out without water coming out. so it doesn't actually sit in the water ?

it must sense through the casing
