Hi, wonder if anyone can help, after changing my LCM because of a light staying on no matter what I did i eventually bought a new second hand unit. When I fitted it the lamp was off and I thought fantastic sorted. Then the messages started. First the nail beam then the fog light, side lights, number plate lights etc.. I have tried to reset everything but I can't seem to access the LCM. Is there anyone close to Alton in Staffs that could help recode it as its driving me crazy. It also seems to be affecting the transfer box since fitting. Any help would be greatfully received.
TIA.

I think you can recode them using the BMW scanner 1.4 but the issue is knowing what code to change. I have tried to find out which bits of the code do what but have failed misserably. I ended up buying an LCM for the same year as mine and just recoding the milage as the LCM holds a backup and I believe the car will default to whichever is higher, cluster or LCM. What year is your car and what year is the new LCM?

Hiya pal,
Thanks for reply.
Yes, mine is a 2007 and as far as I can make out the one I've bought is apparently the correct one for my car buy when fitted it worked except there seemed to be more faults on it than my own. So now I've refitted mine and I'm back to the n/s angel eyes on constantly until I disconnect. Also, I think it messed up my transfer box by throwing it into neutral. I'm hoping now refitting my old one will stop that!

As you are probably aware different years have different lights so if the replacement is from an earlier car with normal bulbs and yours has LEDs then the bulb test will most likely fail and throw up faults.
Can't see why the LCM would mess up the transfer box though, although I'm not familiar with a 2007.

Hiya, the face-lift was done before I bought it and have had no problem with it for over 5 years, this is something out of the blue. Everything else is fine. I've re-fitted my old box and now it's just the n/s angel eyes. I can put up with it for now till I can find the code to cure it I think.

Do these use the LCM from the BMW E39 and similar (E53 X5 and E60 5 series)?

I had an E39 some yeas back and fitted the later LCM4 with has quite a few more coding options. Mine was from as X5, but as long as you match to the headlight type (Halogen or Xenon) the rest could be coded with BMW scanner 1.4, including the VIN, to remove the tamper dot and the milage, so it didn't jump up, if the LCM had higher milage in it.

LCMs that had water damage were know to throw all sorts of errors, and some (usually earlier versions) would have the headlight mosfets fail and leave a headlight on.

No idea if they are the same unit but, when I recoded my mileage the LR software version wasn't in the list on the BMW scanner so I picked the closest match and used that. I guess if they were compatible then the options could be changed with the BMW scanner as he software version would be available to code.
