Hi all another day, another fault on the rr , this morning I hit the cruise controll switch on steering wheel & nothing happened, no lights & no action lol,
Checked fuses ok, checked fault memory , 1 fault logged, (cruise controll controll pannel), so swapped the steering controllable from my mates to mine & still same, nothing, has anyone ever had a broken wire arround column area as it goes in/out every time I get in/out the car I'm guessing may have flexed a cable to many times & finally broke the wire ??? Or has anyone ever had anything else go wrong with this system, its a nice car but god damn annoying as my 300tdi 10 years older just never goes wrong lol

With the greatest of respect, but are you pressing the right buttons....??

The 0/1 button at the bottom of the wheel on the left hand side is the Cruise Control on/off button....

Press this once and a green dial symbol pops up on the right hand side of the dash display.....get to the speed you want (above 28mph I believe is the min value) and press the + button to set this speed....

You can now accelerate and decelerate using the + and - buttons.....

A brief press again of the 0/1 button will suspend Crusie Control.....

A press of the Dial button at the top will resume the previously set speed (aslong as you haven't turned the system off or turned the engine off).....

A long press of the 0/1 butto nwill turn Cruise Control off.....

Yes mate I am pressing the right button, it has been fine up untill this morning, I used it last night on m1 & it was deffinately functioning as it should , just tried removing battery to reset module , refitted & errased fault codes again & still inop, I'm thinking broken wire here, how else can it work fine 1 day then not at all the next,

Ah...you never said it was working and now it is not....! :p

More than likely a fault in the rotary coupler under the steering wheel....do you still have horn and stereo controls, or are this duff too??

Hi mate yes all controllable on wheel are working except the cruise, am I right in thinking that the controllable would work on resistance/ milivolts ie canbus system through the same wire but with a different resistance for a different button & if so this would rule out broken wire as they would all work from the same wire , ill have to have a look on rave when I get home & see

Hmmmmm...

Looking at the schematic. the switch pack transmits over the CAN, but the stereo controls are delivered over the Ibus and the Cruise Control on the CANbus so it is possible the CAN cable is duff at the rotary coupler or from the switch pack to the rotary coupler or from the rotary coupler to the Engine ECU (No CC ECU on the L322 it is all done through the engines ECU) .....

Brilliant finally someone who is knowledgeable lol , thanks saint , ill do a continuity check between controlls to coupler, coupler one side to other , then go from column wiring to ecu, have u any idea of pin locations on coupler, ecu & switch pack mate, cheers,

Hope the attahced may shed some light...

FIXED , finally I have found time to have a proper check of the wiring & bingo the black/yellow wire from pin 8 at rear of rotary coupler has a break between coupler & ecu somewhere behind dash, chopped it, ran new wire through & joined before ecu & all is good back up & running, thanks for all your suggestions

Hi Difflocker,
read this thread with interest.
Glad you found and fixed your broken wire.
My CC also gave up, I think I broke the on/off switch because it happend when I pushed the switch and I had already for a long time the feeling it was not working as it should, it switched without problems, but it had not the same feeling as the other switches on the CC switch pack.
I hope I can just change thar CC switch pack for a new one but cannot find in Rave that you can remove it and I don't want to give it a try because I am afraid to activate the airbag.
From your thread I understand that you replaced the CC control switch pack with one of your friend.
Can you please tell me how to do removal of the CC switch pack?

Thanks very much already,

Dick

Hi Dick, that's not good when you have a long haul in prospect. It's got very cold here the last 2 days.
